| Michael J. Schramm was born in 1944
in Toledo, Ohio.
After high school, Mr. Schramm spent five years with the US Marine
Corps, including a year of combat in Vietnam with E Co., 2nd Bn.,
9th Marine Regiment.
In 1968, Mr.
Schramm entered the retail jewelry business. He began developing his
skills in sales, gemology and management; while also taking courses
through the Gemological Institute of America He received his degree
in Gemology in 1975. During this time, Mr. Schramm
also took courses in jewelry design, jewelry repair and gem setting.
In
1984 armed with his advanced education and over 15 years in the
business in both Toledo and Springfield, Illinois, Mr. Schramm
established Schramm-Bacher Jewelers with then partner, Joseph T.
Bacher. In 2000, after a 16 year partnership, Mr. Schramm became sole
owner. Today his highly qualified staff continues to serve their
customers with integrity and enthusiasm, always placing quality and
personal service first.
Mr. Schramm married his wife
Sue in 1969. They raised three children, who are now grown and
raising families of their own. Mr. Schramm is a past president
of the Central Illinois Guild of the American Gem Society, a past
president of the Illinois Jewelers Assoc., a past board of directors
member of IJA and the Midwest Gemological conference. He is
also a former
Rotarian and recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow. |
